Director, Subscriptions & Membership Marketing

The Director, Subscriptions & Membership Marketing is responsible for the strategic direction, marketing plan development, and marketing execution oversight for three strategic business lines: Hart Energy media subscriptions, Rextag (data mapping services), and the Hart Energy online store. This individual has proven experience with leading multi-channel campaign initiatives to drive awareness, demand generation, and sales conversions through marketing automation and email (Marketo preferred), social media, digital advertising, CRM systems (Hubspot preferred), web and UI improvements, and other lead-gen and conversion technologies and techniques. Media or data, subscription-based services, and/or ecommerce experience is a plus.

The Director, Subscriptions & Membership Marketing requires a strategic thinker, nimble problem solver, and a person that possesses a well-rounded digital marketing skillset. This position reports to the Vice President of Marketing and works with the internal Digital, Sales, and Marketing Execution teams.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Support the development and execution of integrated programs for awareness, demand generation, and conversion of subscription programs across multiple outbound and inbound channels including: website promotions, email, content marketing, search and social advertising, PPC, etc.
  • Support the execution of campaigns leveraging internal resources for email, social, and other digital marketing channels
  • Leverage marketing automation tools, CRM, and data analysis to scale demand generation and conversion programs
  • Support the measurement and analysis of data to report on campaign performance and to quickly respond to data for continual performance improvement
  • Lead the optimization of lead-to-customer conversion rate throughout all marketing touchpoints.
  • Ensure marketing design meets or exceeds industry best practices
  • Help build new Membership strategies and programs

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or relevant concentration or relevant experience (master's degree a plus)
  • Ten or more years marketing experience with 5 years of previous digital subscription experience
  • 3-4 years hands-on B2B and B2C experience in inbound and demand generation (lead generation and nurturing campaign execution and measurement) preferably in energy, media/publishing, or industrial markets
  • Experience with multi-channel marketing including but not limited to: email marketing, website marketing, SEM, PPC, SEO, retargeting, social marketing
  • Strong understanding of online customer journeys and user experience to improve conversion performance
  • Data analysis skills, with the ability to extract and interpret data from various sources to develop creative solutions and business decisions
  • Solid knowledge of advertising performance metrics and measurement platforms
  • Strong communications skills
  • Experience with list building and purging, database management, and segmentation campaigns
  • Intermediate-Advanced spreadsheet capabilities including functions, pivot tables, and lookups
  • Creativity is a must, bringing new ideas to the table is a key to success in this role
  • Strong collaboration skills; able to develop and maintain effective relationships with peers, vendors, and internal stakeholders
  • Experience with UI and UX optimization for conversion
  • Marketo Certified Expert highly preferred
  • Hubspot certification a plus
  • Google Ads and Analytics certifification a plus
  • Basic HTML and CSS skills a plus
