Position Title: Controller

Reports To: Finance Director

Status: Non Exempt

Position Summary: The head of the accounting and reporting function for a company that includes multiple distinct revenue streams (Media, Events and Data products). This professional must possess solid communication, technology, analytical and management skills. Candidates should command a knowledge of all aspects of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), be able to communicate with all levels of management, and pro-actively drive actionable conclusions from the reporting of financials.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Lead and continually develop a team of three professionals through all month-end close process and consolidation of financial information for reporting purposes. Complete month-end true-ups, accruals, depreciation and amortization; ensuring timely and accurate monthly closing by stipulated deadlines.
  • Lead and manage all functions related to receivables, payables, G/L, inter-company accounts and assist treasury department with bank balances and cash management.
  • Develop, review and post general journal entries and maintain accurate reconciliations.
  • Prepare daily and monthly financial reports/statements and maintain full set of accounts, general ledgers and journals according to US GAAP and company accounting policies. This is to include the oversight and management of recurring reporting processes including revenue recognition, customer analysis, contract management, sales commissions, deferred revenue reporting and various KPI's.
  • Assist with the analysis of financial performance, prepare and manage budget and assist with the management of an eighteen (18) month rolling forecast.
  • Interprets operating results and makes specific recommendations, which will result in cost reduction and profit improvement.
  • Lead and Manage annual audit and tax filings with the assistance of external auditors and tax professionals.
  • Participates in the business process.
  • Makes presentations to Senior Management and conducts special projects as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions:

  • Frequently required to stand, occasionally required to walk, climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
  • Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands, and/or fingers, including but not limited to keyboard usage, etc.
  • Regularly required to lift up to 10 pounds, frequently lift up to 15 pounds, occasionally required to lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Vision requirements include close vision and ability to adjust focus.
  • Noise level in the environment is moderate.


  • Software identified: Advanced spreadsheet skills, Sage Intacct Accounting System or similar mid-market system
  • 6 years of progressive career development with a minimum of 2 years in Controller position.
  • Previous experience in public accounting, private or private equity backed organizations a plus
  • Prior Supervisory experience; well -developed leadership skills.
  • Attention to detail, deadline driven.


  • Bachelors Degree in Accounting.
  • Advanced degree in a related discipline a plus
  • Current CPA a plus
